Meet the Centre Manager

Jesmin Sakayanathan

First Grammar Toongabbie Child Care Centre ManagerHow long have you been working in early education?

I have been in the early childhood industry for 6 years.

What is your favourite part of working at the centre?

Being part of Children’s learning and growth, watching children explore and experiment the environment as capable learners.

What qualifications do you hold?

I began my career in early childhood education six years ago where I studied my Diploma and continued on with completing my bachelor’s degree in Early childhood and Primary education.

What are you most passionate about?

Embedding a warm and nurturing environment where parents feel comfortable leaving their children each day. Where children are able to be themselves and learn to the best of their abilities. I believe children are central to everything we do. I believe that we are creating the future and potentially the next generation of leaders to leader our world. I believe I am part of something spectacular that only us as educators truly understand the world of little minds.

What is your favourite inspirational quote?

“Play: Play is not frivolous. It is not luxury. It is not something to fit in after completing all the important stuff. Play is the important stuff. Play is a drive, a need, a brain-building must – do”

What values are most important to you in your team members?

Teamwork! If we are all in a boat together, we need to be rowing in the same direction. We can’t row a boat, if we all don’t row together.

What makes your team/centre special?

Our team is special because of everyone’s individual qualities that they each bring to the team. Without the amazing people in this team it wouldn’t make the centre as homely and welcoming when everyone comes into it. The centre is special as we’re all a big family, which is continuously growing every day.

As a child what did you want to be when you grew up?

A Teacher, who was just like Miss Honey from Matilda.

What is one of your hobbies?

Reading and Painting.

What message would you like to tell parents considering your centre?

I would like to tell parents that they aren’t just walking into a childcare centre that they are in fact walking into a family. Every child and family member that comes through our door is welcomed into a big family. We strive to be warm and nurturing where all children are encouraged to grow and explore whilst we are able to work collaboratively together with families to enrich every child’s learning Journey.

See what some of our parents say about our centre:

“I love my experience with First Grammar Toongabbie. A highly dedicated team who are committed to not only caring for your child but also giving them an excellent start in education. My kids have gone to the centre ever since it opened and I have always been very happy with the service. Would be my first recommendation to any friend. I love the fact that the centre staff are multicultural and varying in age & maturity.”

– Anne-Marie

“Both my children attend here after leaving another day care in the area last year. In comparison I find it hard to express how much this centre has to offer. There are so many learning opportunities and activities that are age appropriate for the kids. The staff are well trained and communicate extremely well with the parents and children. The food is healthy – and my kids eat it!!! It is definitely not pasta and frozen veggies that some centres serve. I highly recommend First Grammar Toongabbie!”

– Jade
