“I see my role as a guide rather than a director, ensuring children are given choices, a voice, and the freedom to take risks and grow.”

I began working in early childhood education in 2002, and after more than 23 years in the sector, I still feel as passionate as I did on my very first day. Throughout my career, I’ve had the privilege of leading teams, mentoring educators, and most importantly, watching countless children grow, thrive, and discover the world around them.

From the beginning, I knew early education was more than just a career; it was a calling. I was inspired by the opportunity to make a genuine difference in the lives of children and families, creating strong foundations for learning, confidence, and curiosity. What I love most is seeing the joy on children’s faces when they achieve something new, and knowing that the environments we create are places where they feel safe, valued, and excited to learn.

Over the years, children have taught me that no two individuals are the same. Each child has their own personality, learning style, and interests, and I believe these differences should be celebrated. This has shaped my teaching philosophy: I focus on creating flexible, engaging, and responsive environments that allow children to explore at their own pace. I see my role as a guide rather than a director, ensuring children are given choices, a voice, and the freedom to take risks and grow.

For me, early education isn’t just about preparing children for school – it’s about preparing them for life. I want every child to leave our centre with confidence in themselves, resilience, and a lifelong love of learning. By sparking curiosity, celebrating individuality, and fostering strong relationships, I aim to give children the tools they need to flourish well beyond their early years.

When speaking with families, I often explain that while learning at home is so important, our centre provides unique opportunities that complement and expand on this. Children benefit from social interactions with peers, planned learning experiences guided by qualified educators, and thoughtfully designed environments that inspire exploration and creativity. Our programs are aligned with the Early Years Learning Framework, ensuring every child’s development is supported holistically, socially, emotionally, and cognitively. This balance of structured learning, play, and social connection is something families consistently value.

I am incredibly proud of the team here at First Grammar Gumnut Drive. We are a close-knit group of passionate and dedicated educators who genuinely love what we do. Many of our team members have been with the centre for years, which brings stability, consistency, and long-standing relationships with families. Being a boutique centre means we know every child and family personally, and we take pride in creating an environment that feels like an extension of home. Families often tell us they feel the warmth and care the moment they walk through the door, and that is a reflection of the commitment and heart my team brings every single day.

Supporting families is at the centre of my role as well. I make sure I am approachable, available, and always ready to listen. Whether it’s celebrating milestones, sharing updates, or simply being there when families need guidance or reassurance, I strive to create strong partnerships built on trust and open communication. I believe that when families and educators work together, children benefit most – and that’s what drives me every day.

I look forward to welcoming your family to our early education community in Langwarrin.

“I strongly believe in the power of play-based learning, where children engage in social interactions, explore through trial and error, and build confidence with the guidance of educators. “

I hold a Bachelor of Early Childhood Education from Deakin University and a Master of Professional Accounting from Central Queensland University. I am a registered teacher with the Victorian Institute of Teaching and have been working in the early childhood education sector since 2015.

As a mother of three, I find joy in watching children grow into kind and compassionate individuals. This same passion carries into my work, where I strive to create a nurturing, inclusive and supportive learning environment for all children.

My philosophy in early childhood education follows a holistic approach, ensuring that children’s learning and development are interconnected and supported across all domains. I strongly believe in the power of play-based learning, where children engage in social interactions, explore through trial and error, and build confidence with the guidance of educators.

I see each child as a unique individual, with their own interests, strengths, and pace of development. My goal is to create an environment where every child feels valued, supported, and inspired to grow, laying the foundation for a lifelong love of learning.

A centre tour is a convenient way to experience the childcare centre of your choice and meet with our qualified educators at a time that is suitable for your family’s schedule. Click here to book a tour online.

On the day of the tour, you can observe practices and interactions within the centre environment. You’ll be able to see all the rooms and playgrounds, ask the team members any questions you have in mind, and get all the information you need to make the best decision for your child.

Our Family Support Team will add your child’s name to our waitlist if one of our childcare centres is currently full in your child’s age group. We will then contact you as soon as a place becomes available.

We also do monthly check-ins to review availability, and you will receive a text message confirming whether you’re still happy to remain on the waitlist each month. If you would like an update at any point, you’re welcome to reach out on our Web Chat or give us a call.

Our Family Support Team can also help you find more G8 early learning centres near you, with the same offerings at the First Grammar centre you are interested in that have immediate availability.

It’s common for a child to experience separation anxiety when they first start child care. When you’re getting ready to start child care, you can help your child overcome anxieties by visiting the child care service together for a Stay and Play session, and easing into new routines at home.

Read more tips about how to make the transition easier for your child.

Most of our child care and early education centres offer nappies and wipes, sunscreen and hats, as well as nutritious meals prepared by our in-house cook. Some centres also provide sheets and formula, so you may not need to remember to pack them.

For nursery children, be sure to bring: nappy rash cream, dummies, bottles and teats, comfort toys or blankets, three spare outfits and spare socks.

For toddlers and preschool or kindergarten-aged children, it’s best to bring: spare underwear, water bottle or sippy cup, sun hat, closed-toe shoes, two spare outfits and spare socks.

Plus, anything else your individual child may need, such as breast milk, a sleeping bag, a comforter or medication.

It’s best to speak to your centre of choice for a full list of everything included.

First Grammar uses Xplor Home as our family communication app. It is the best and easiest way to keep track of your child’s day.

After you enrol your child with the centre, you can utilise Xplor Home to book child care days, manage your account, receive the photographs that capture your child’s learning, learn about your child’s progress, as well as keep up-to-date with upcoming centre events and important information.

If your child shows signs of an infectious illness when they arrive at the centre or becomes sick during the day, you may be notified that you need to make alternative arrangements or pick up your child from the centre and keep them home until they are no longer infectious. While we understand that this can be inconvenient, First Grammar is committed to maintaining a healthy environment and reducing the risk of infection for all children.

Under the Child Care Subsidy (CCS), families are allowed 42 absence days per child, per financial year. These can be taken for any reason, including public holidays and when children are sick, without requiring families to provide documentation.
