First Grammar Langwarrin offers long day care and a kindergarten program for children aged 6 weeks to 6 years, conveniently located for families in Langwarrin, Skye and Cranbourne South.

Age-approproriate outdoor spaces

Each room has access to three distinct outdoor environments tailored to their age group. With sandpits, natural gardens, vegetable gardens, cubby houses, climbing forts and natural materials, children have space to move, explore and spend time outdoors every day.

Indoor spaces for play-based learning

Indoors, children can explore an abundance of resources in spaces designed for play-based learning. The rooms give children opportunities to create, investigate, play with others and follow their interests throughout the day.

Long-standing educator team

Our long-standing educators and teachers have built strong connections with families over time. These familiar relationships help children feel settled, understood and comfortable as they take part in daily learning.

Government-approved Kindergarten program

Our Government-approved Kindergarten program is delivered by a Bachelor-qualified Early Childhood Teacher. Children build school readiness through play, routines, friendships, problem-solving and growing independence.

Individual Learning Plans

Individual Learning Plans are developed in partnership with families, reflecting each child’s strengths, interests and developmental goals. Educators use these plans to guide learning experiences that suit each child’s needs, routines and progress.

Bush walks and local excursions

Children of all age groups enjoy bush walks and excursions to local parks and aged care facilities. These experiences help children connect with nature, their local community and people of different generations.

Music, cooking, sports and events

As part of the daily fee, children take part in Hey Dee Ho music, cooking classes and a sports program. The centre also celebrates regular cultural events that reflect the diversity of the local community.

“I focus on creating environments that invite exploration, choice and problem-solving, rather than relying on constant direction.”

I began my journey in early childhood education driven by a genuine interest in how young children learn and develop. Over time, that interest has grown into a strong passion for supporting children to build confidence, independence and a love of learning through play-based experiences.

Throughout my career in early childhood education, I’ve learnt that children are capable, curious and naturally motivated to learn when they feel safe, supported and genuinely heard. They don’t all learn in the same way or at the same pace, and their learning is most meaningful when it connects to their own interests, experiences and sense of identity. These understandings guide my teaching style by encouraging me to take a more intentional, play-based approach. I focus on creating environments that invite exploration, choice and problem-solving, rather than relying on constant direction. I aim to scaffold children’s learning – stepping in when needed to extend thinking, while also allowing space for independence and discovery.

In an early learning environment, children are exposed to a wide range of play-based experiences that are intentionally planned to support their development across all areas – social, emotional, cognitive, and physical. These experiences are guided by educators who understand child development and know how to extend children’s learning in meaningful ways. A big benefit is the opportunity for social learning. Being part of a group helps children learn how to build relationships, communicate, negotiate, and develop empathy.

I make it a priority to communicate openly and consistently – whether that’s through daily conversations, updates, or more formal check-ins, so families feel informed and confident about their child’s development.

Our innovative early learning programs

At our early learning centre in Langwarrin, our play-based curriculum is guided by the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF), supporting children to learn through play, exploration and discovery.

Sustainability

Children develop respect for the environment through gardening, recycling and nature-based learning. Educators also introduce the interconnected aspects of sustainability, including environmental, social and economic, through concepts like fairness, sharing and community.

Social and emotional learning

Children develop a strong sense of identity as they feel safe, secure and supported, building confidence, resilience and a positive sense of self. Through group activities, conversations and play, children learn to interact with others with care, empathy and respect, building positive relationships and friendships.

Exploration and problem solving

Educators introduce open-ended materials and invitations to explore, such as building, measuring and experimenting. Through shared conversations and investigation, children develop curiosity, problem-solving and critical thinking skills.

Music and movement

Our evidence-based Rhythm and Movement for Self-Regulation (RAMSR) program is designed to develop fundamental skills that help support children’s self-regulation, memory, and concentration. It is an innovative approach to holistic learning, development and well-being in early childhood.

It’s a small, friendly and welcoming centre that instantly feels inviting. One of the things I’ve appreciated most is the low staff turnover. Our child has had the same wonderful educators the whole time, which has given her a sense of stability, helped build trust, and made her overall experience so positive. While the centre itself isn’t as new or shiny as some others we toured, the care, consistency and quality of the educators has been absolutely exceptional and that matters so much more to us. My child is naturally quiet and shy, but the educators have been so patient and supportive, gently encouraging her to come out of her shell. The difference in her confidence and social skills has been amazing to see. In all the time we’ve been here, we haven’t had a single complaint, just consistent, caring, and professional support. I feel so lucky to have found this daycare and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to any family.

See more First Grammar Gumnut Drive is an amazing centre, from the welcome as you enter the foyer, to the care and meals the staff provide to the goodbye at the end of the day everything is great. They’ve been absolutely fantastic with my sometimes challenging daughters (ASD & type 1 diabetes) but the centre manager and educators were up for the challenge and educated themselves to give my girls the best care possible. I highly recommend this centre and will be very sad when it’s our time to say goodbye.

A centre tour is a convenient way to experience the childcare centre of your choice and meet with our qualified educators at a time that is suitable for your family’s schedule. Click here to book a tour online.

On the day of the tour, you can observe practices and interactions within the centre environment. You’ll be able to see all the rooms and playgrounds, ask the team members any questions you have in mind, and get all the information you need to make the best decision for your child.

Enrolling is simple, and our Family Support Team will guide you through each step.

First, find your local centre and book a tour so you can meet the team and explore the learning environment. If the centre is the right fit and a place is available, you’ll receive an enrolment offer for your child. If a place is not currently available in your child’s age group, we can add your child to the waitlist and keep you updated.

To finalise your enrolment, you’ll complete an online enrolment form through a secure link sent by our Family Support Team. You’ll also need to provide key details and documents, including your child’s birth certificate, Medicare details, immunisation history statement and, if eligible, your Child Care Subsidy details.

Before your child’s first day, you may be invited to attend a Stay and Play session. This gives your child time to explore the centre, meet their educators, and start feeling comfortable in their new environment. Once your paperwork is complete, your child is ready to start their early learning journey with us.

Read our step-by-step guide on how to enrol here.

Starting child care is a big milestone, and a little preparation can help your child feel more comfortable and confident.

Before your child’s first day, you can talk positively about their new centre, explain what their day might look like, and practise small routines such as packing their bag, saying goodbye, washing hands and sitting down for meals. You may also like to visit the centre with your child, meet their educators and ask our team about what to bring on the first day.

When your child starts, our educators will take the time to get to know your child’s routine, interests, comfort items and individual needs. Settling in looks different for every child, so we work closely with families to help children feel safe, supported and ready to learn.

Learn more about our Settling-in Program.

Most of our child care and early education centres offer nappies and wipes, sunscreen and hats, as well as nutritious meals prepared by our in-house cook. Some centres also provide sheets and formula, so you may not need to remember to pack them.

For nursery children, be sure to bring: nappy rash cream, dummies, bottles and teats, comfort toys or blankets, three spare outfits and spare socks.

For toddlers and preschool or kindergarten-aged children, it’s best to bring: spare underwear, water bottle or sippy cup, sun hat, closed-toe shoes, two spare outfits and spare socks.

Plus, anything else your individual child may need, such as breast milk, a sleeping bag, a comforter or medication.

It’s best to speak to your centre of choice for a full list of everything included.

First Grammar uses Xplor Home as our family communication app. It is the best and easiest way to keep track of your child’s day.

After you enrol your child with the centre, you can utilise Xplor Home to book child care days, manage your account, receive the photographs that capture your child’s learning, learn about your child’s progress, as well as keep up-to-date with upcoming centre events and important information.

If your child shows signs of an infectious illness when they arrive at the centre or becomes sick during the day, you may be notified that you need to make alternative arrangements or pick up your child from the centre and keep them home until they are no longer infectious. While we understand that this can be inconvenient, First Grammar is committed to maintaining a healthy environment and reducing the risk of infection for all children.

Under the Child Care Subsidy (CCS), families are allowed 42 absence days per child, per financial year. These can be taken for any reason, including public holidays and when children are sick, without requiring families to provide documentation.
