I began my career in early childhood education in 2018. Early Childhood Education has strengthened my understanding of how vital the early years are in building confidence, curiosity and a love of learning.

I believe every child is unique and thrives when they feel safe, supported and valued. Play-based learning is central to my approach, helping children develop social skills, confidence and an understanding of the world.

At First Grammar Gumnut Drive, our dedicated team works together to create a welcoming, inclusive environment where children feel a strong sense of belonging. Through thoughtfully planned play-based experiences, we support communication, problem-solving, and positive relationships.

As an Early Childhood Teacher, I aim to deliver a fun and engaging play-based program that will help set each child up for success and develop into life-long learners. I believe in the power of play-based learning, where children are encouraged to explore, create, and develop essential skills in a fun and engaging environment. By fostering curiosity and a love for learning, I aim to support each child in becoming a confident, capable learner who is prepared for future success.

Through intentional teaching and meaningful interactions, I focus on building strong foundations in social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development.

Building strong partnerships with families and the wider community is central to my teaching philosophy. By working together, we can ensure that every child feels a deep sense of belonging and love for learning that will carry them through life.

I began my journey in early childhood education driven by a genuine interest in how young children learn and develop. Over time, that interest has grown into a strong passion for supporting children to build confidence, independence and a love of learning through play-based experiences.

Throughout my career in early childhood education, I’ve learnt that children are capable, curious and naturally motivated to learn when they feel safe, supported and genuinely heard. They don’t all learn in the same way or at the same pace, and their learning is most meaningful when it connects to their own interests, experiences and sense of identity. These understandings guide my teaching style by encouraging me to take a more intentional, play-based approach. I focus on creating environments that invite exploration, choice and problem-solving, rather than relying on constant direction. I aim to scaffold children’s learning – stepping in when needed to extend thinking, while also allowing space for independence and discovery.

In an early learning environment, children are exposed to a wide range of play-based experiences that are intentionally planned to support their development across all areas – social, emotional, cognitive, and physical. These experiences are guided by educators who understand child development and know how to extend children’s learning in meaningful ways. A big benefit is the opportunity for social learning. Being part of a group helps children learn how to build relationships, communicate, negotiate, and develop empathy.

I make it a priority to communicate openly and consistently – whether that’s through daily conversations, updates, or more formal check-ins, so families feel informed and confident about their child’s development.
