First Grammar Wantirna South

Your child’s first steps to learning begin at First Grammar Wantirna South. Our long day care and kindergarten centre provides child care that is perfect for families living or commuting through nearby suburbs Wantirna South, Wantirna, Knoxfield, Ferntree Gully and Glen Waverly in Melbourne. We're open from 7:00am to 6:30pm for children aged 6 weeks to 6 years.

Spacious areas designed to inspire

From the moment you step foot into our child care centre, you’ll be engaged in a world where children are encouraged to learn and explore. Our spacious outdoor environments feature sandpits, vegetable garden, and other exciting play equipment to engage all the senses. Children are provided the time and space for uninterrupted play as they explore the outdoors to test their limits and develop strength, balance, and self-confidence. Being outside supports children’s overall health and wellbeing.

Our indoor spaces invite exploration with quality resources and learning experiences. Children wonder, create, and test out their ideas as they play with a range of materials in purposeful play spaces. Our team of experienced educators plan play-based learning experiences around children’s interests and learning goals. Literacy and numeracy concepts are embedded in play-based learning, as children engage as architects, storytellers, scientists, artists, and designers.

Healthy meals freshly prepared in-centre

Healthy, freshly made meals and snacks are created daily by our in-house cook, catering for all dietary requirements so you don’t need to pack lunches saving you time. Shared mealtimes between children and educators strengthen relationships, with opportunities to share stories and experiences, and model healthy eating practices. Let us treat you to coffee and a snack as part of your morning routine.

High-quality early learning programs

No two days are alike at our Wantirna South early education centre. Your child will have access to a rotating schedule of specialised programs, including a sports program, yoga, music and movement and Bush Kinder. Our Bachelor Qualified Teacher supports the curriculum across the centre and several incursions and excursions are organised to further stimulate the childrens learning and development.  Our childcare centre proudly offers a kindergarten program to ensure your child is supported for their transition to school every step of the way. With a focus on language, literacy, numeracy, social skills and more your child will become school ready.

Educators and children venture out into the local community on excursions to locations. We also welcome special guests and community members based on the children's interests. Neighbourhood connections support a sense of community and belonging for children and provide opportunities to develop social and observational skills with different people, places, and environments.

We offer an engaging sustainability program teaching the children a sense of responsibility and connection to their world. Children learn about sustainability practices through our vegetable garden while harvesting food, weeding, watering, and nurturing the environment.

As members of our First Grammar community, we look forward to partnering with you to provide information, support, and high-quality education and care in your child’s formative years.
