Centre Manager - First Grammar Bonnyrigg Heights

"all children learn, develop and grow in their own way"

Throughout my years working in early learning, I have learnt that all children learn, develop and grow in their own way. Therefore, I have learnt to adapt my teaching style to the needs of the individual child.

Hi, my name is Jacinta and I am the proud centre manager here at Bonnyrigg First Grammar.  I began working in early learning in 2008 and have been at this centre since 2020.

I have a diploma in children's services, have over 5 years management experience and have worked with children of all age groups.

After obtaining my Diploma in children’s services, I began my career working with the children implementing a creative and educational curriculum for children aged 6 weeks to 6 years. I advanced my career with a passion for providing the best quality of care for all children and ensuring strong relationships with the families.

At First Grammar Bonnyrigg Heights, we work with our families and children to provide a safe and inviting environment for the children to explore and develop. We encourage independence through developing the children’s self help skills and ability to regulate their emotions.

Our entire team are highly qualified and have skills that provide a nurturing and safe environment for all our children and families.

We all uphold the highest of health and safety standards and practices as well as child protection in our centre and through our service.  We ensure that children are encouraged to learn the importance of hygiene and we embed those practices in our daily routines through transition times.

The best part of my job is the team – they are so committed and positive about their role as educators.  The whole team sees their role as incredibly important, helping children establish the building blocks for a successful lifetime of learning.

When families first enrol with us at First Grammar, we encourage the family to take part in a ‘stay and play’ orientation with their child and we’ll support the entire family as needed in the settling into a new environment. We offer families an information starter pack with all the required details to make the enrolment procedure as easy as possible.

Upon enrolment, we encourage families to take part in our curriculum by asking them to provide us with information on their child and home/family life. We also hold special events at the service (grandparents morning tea, Easter hat parade, leaving ceremonies etc) that families are welcomed to join in with us.

We build our relationships with families through the orientation process, and throughout their time with us at the service. We use a customised app that allows us to inform the families about their children’s day called X-Plor.  We also communicate regularly through email, which includes, monthly newsletters, what we have been up to, and special event calendars.

We welcome everyone with open arms and invite them into our First Grammar Family. We have a multicultural team who reflect our local community. It’s the sort of centre where everyone knows all the children, no matter which room they are in. We are such a close-knit team it feels like one big family and we look forward to bringing you and your family into our fold.

As a Mum of three myself, I strive to ensure that all families feel safe, secure and supported throughout their time with us at First Grammar Bonnyrigg Heights.
