Indoor-outdoor learning with a beautiful outlook

Children have room to play and explore in a large outdoor area with a climbing fort, natural trees and a beautiful outlook. Indoors, spacious light-filled areas allow for flexible indoor-outdoor play, giving children choice as they move through their day.

Spacious, light-filled indoor spaces

Our indoor spaces are bright, open and flexible, giving children room for play, group learning and quieter moments. The layout helps children move between activities and follow their interests in a calm, inviting environment.

Experienced educator team

Our team includes long-standing educators who mentor and guide the next generation of early childhood educators. This creates a well-rounded team environment where children are cared for by educators with different strengths, experience and perspectives.

Individual Learning Plans

Individual Learning Plans are developed in partnership with families, reflecting each child’s strengths, interests and developmental goals. Educators use these plans to guide learning experiences that suit each child’s needs, routines and progress.

Government-approved Preschool

Our preschool program is delivered by Bachelor-qualified Early Childhood Teachers. The program focuses on social, emotional and academic readiness, helping children build the confidence and skills they need before school.

Local community partnerships

Children and educators are connected with the local community through partnerships with TAFE, primary schools, shops and aged care facilities. These connections help children learn from familiar people and places around Lithgow.

“I am passionate about creating a nurturing environment where children feel confident to be themselves, explore their strengths, and develop a love of learning through play and meaningful experiences.”

I was inspired to pursue a career in early education through my love of working with children and seeing the positive impact supportive educators can have on their confidence and growth. What I enjoy most is watching children learn through play, curiosity, and everyday experiences, while building strong relationships with families and creating a supportive community where children can thrive.

Throughout my career, I’ve learned that every child is unique and develops at their own pace. Children learn best when they feel safe, supported, valued, and encouraged to explore their interests and ideas. This guides my approach to be warm, caring, supportive, and child-focused. I am passionate about creating a nurturing environment where children feel confident to be themselves, explore their strengths, and develop a love of learning through play and meaningful experiences.

Early learning centres work alongside families to support children’s growth and wellbeing. In a structured, play-based environment, children have opportunities to build social skills, confidence, communication, creativity, and independence through hands-on learning and peer interactions guided by qualified educators. At First Grammar Lithgow, we have a passionate and dedicated team of educators who bring a wide range of experience, skills, and cultural backgrounds to the centre. Together, we create a welcoming and inclusive environment where children and families feel respected, supported, and connected.

Building strong relationships with families is one of the most important parts of my role. I focus on creating a welcoming environment where families feel comfortable communicating openly and sharing their child’s needs, routines, and goals. Through kindness, consistency, and mutual respect, I aim to build strong partnerships that support each child’s learning, development, and well-being.

Our innovative early learning programs

At our early learning centre in Lithgow, our play-based curriculum is guided by the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF), supporting children to learn through play, exploration and discovery.

Sustainability

Children develop respect for the environment through gardening, recycling and nature-based learning. Educators also introduce the interconnected aspects of sustainability, including environmental, social and economic, through concepts like fairness, sharing and community.

Social and emotional learning

Children develop a strong sense of identity as they feel safe, secure and supported, building confidence, resilience and a positive sense of self. Through group activities, conversations and play, children learn to interact with others with care, empathy and respect, building positive relationships and friendships.

Independence and life skills

Children develop autonomy, interdependence, resilience and a sense of agency through meaningful participation in everyday routines, such as preparing snack, caring for plants, and tidying shared spaces.

Exploration and problem solving

Educators introduce open-ended materials and invitations to explore, such as building, measuring and experimenting. Through shared conversations and investigation, children develop curiosity, problem-solving and critical thinking skills.

Age-appropriate early learning

We provide learning experiences tailored to each stage of your child’s development. Our programs are guided by the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) and designed to support children’s wellbeing, confidence and growing independence.

I can not make opinion on the services offered as I have never had a child attend this center. This review is based on the business itself and responsibility to manage waste and resources. My partner and others have previously approached staff about the volume of toys and rubbish that are thrown through or over the fence onto neighbouring streets and neighbouring properties. On all occasions this was shrugged off, with a seemingly 'don't care' attitude and this attitude is also evident after seeing staff walk straight by discarded toys and rubbish after work. There seems to have been no change after these discussions. I note that some rubbish and toys has been observed making it's way into the gutter which then washes into our creeks and waterways. Unless this changes, I am going to the EPA on this matter. I have also heard of damage to a vehicle after a toy was flicked up from the roadway. Apart from the above it is rather unsightly. I am happy to change this review or delete it if the situation changes, however if it doesn't I will be contacting the EPA in regard to the issue.

A centre tour is a convenient way to experience the childcare centre of your choice and meet with our qualified educators at a time that is suitable for your family’s schedule. Click here to book a tour online.

On the day of the tour, you can observe practices and interactions within the centre environment. You’ll be able to see all the rooms and playgrounds, ask the team members any questions you have in mind, and get all the information you need to make the best decision for your child.

Enrolling is simple, and our Family Support Team will guide you through each step.

First, find your local centre and book a tour so you can meet the team and explore the learning environment. If the centre is the right fit and a place is available, you’ll receive an enrolment offer for your child. If a place is not currently available in your child’s age group, we can add your child to the waitlist and keep you updated.

To finalise your enrolment, you’ll complete an online enrolment form through a secure link sent by our Family Support Team. You’ll also need to provide key details and documents, including your child’s birth certificate, Medicare details, immunisation history statement and, if eligible, your Child Care Subsidy details.

Before your child’s first day, you may be invited to attend a Stay and Play session. This gives your child time to explore the centre, meet their educators, and start feeling comfortable in their new environment. Once your paperwork is complete, your child is ready to start their early learning journey with us.

Read our step-by-step guide on how to enrol here.

Starting child care is a big milestone, and a little preparation can help your child feel more comfortable and confident.

Before your child’s first day, you can talk positively about their new centre, explain what their day might look like, and practise small routines such as packing their bag, saying goodbye, washing hands and sitting down for meals. You may also like to visit the centre with your child, meet their educators and ask our team about what to bring on the first day.

When your child starts, our educators will take the time to get to know your child’s routine, interests, comfort items and individual needs. Settling in looks different for every child, so we work closely with families to help children feel safe, supported and ready to learn.

Learn more about our Settling-in Program.

Most of our child care and early education centres offer nappies and wipes, sunscreen and hats, as well as nutritious meals prepared by our in-house cook. Some centres also provide sheets and formula, so you may not need to remember to pack them.

For nursery children, be sure to bring: nappy rash cream, dummies, bottles and teats, comfort toys or blankets, three spare outfits and spare socks.

For toddlers and preschool or kindergarten-aged children, it’s best to bring: spare underwear, water bottle or sippy cup, sun hat, closed-toe shoes, two spare outfits and spare socks.

Plus, anything else your individual child may need, such as breast milk, a sleeping bag, a comforter or medication.

It’s best to speak to your centre of choice for a full list of everything included.

First Grammar uses Xplor Home as our family communication app. It is the best and easiest way to keep track of your child’s day.

After you enrol your child with the centre, you can utilise Xplor Home to book child care days, manage your account, receive the photographs that capture your child’s learning, learn about your child’s progress, as well as keep up-to-date with upcoming centre events and important information.

If your child shows signs of an infectious illness when they arrive at the centre or becomes sick during the day, you may be notified that you need to make alternative arrangements or pick up your child from the centre and keep them home until they are no longer infectious. While we understand that this can be inconvenient, First Grammar is committed to maintaining a healthy environment and reducing the risk of infection for all children.

Under the Child Care Subsidy (CCS), families are allowed 42 absence days per child, per financial year. These can be taken for any reason, including public holidays and when children are sick, without requiring families to provide documentation.
